Learning Detours is the result of a journey that begun somewhere around 1995..
The people behind Learning Detours have been involved in activities related to business development and innovation through various positions over a period of over 20 years, working in Government and Private Enterprises, experiencing different management styles, living through success and failure and learning important life lessons, the most important of all, that yesterday is yesterday and tomorrow will be different rendering what we know today almost irrelevant!
Over the years we have come to understand that people are happy when they feel that they are in control, they have the skills to make a difference and that they are striving towards something above themselves, a higher purpose. It may be ok to be selfish, but we really feel good about ourselves when we believe that what we do makes a difference in someone's life, big or small.
We are all complicated beings, and although business claims to be logical and not driven by feelings, feelings are what actually drive anything. In today's unpredictable and fast changing environment any business relies on its people to achieve the extra-ordinary results that we have come to expect as consumers. Events are taking place everywhere and all the time and its an impossible task for one manager or even a team of managers to control everything. You (as a business or one individual in the business) make one customer unhappy and all other potential customers know about it immediately, you make the extra effort and show to your customers that you really care and they love you, forgiving any mistakes you made in the process!!
This is not one man's or woman's job, it's a collective effort of people who love what they do, because:
